Our customers are awesome! In 2018, they’ve saved 0 cups from landfills by bringing their own mugs…

But they’re not stopping there! As awesome as Bringing Your Own is, other simple actions can seriously amp up our sustainability efforts. What’s the most effective individual action? Eating fewer animal products and more plants 🌱

And RoosRoasters are doing just that! Here are some of the plant-based options they’ve enjoyed in 2018 and the impact* those choices have had…

gallons plant-based milk🌱🥛
0 gallons water saved 🌊
vs dairy milk

0 plant-based burgers 🌱🍔
0 less land used 🌎
vs beef burgers

grams plant protein powder 🌱💪
0 lbs CO2e reduced 🌳
vs whey (dairy-based) protein

And plant-based eating isn’t only better for the planet, it’s also better for our health and for animals. True win-win-wins are hard to come by—but this is one of them.
*A note on impact measurements…
Different plant-based options within each category vary in terms of environmental impact. Among plant-based milks, for example, almond milk requires more water to grow than pea milk (both of which require less water than dairy milk). To keep things simple, we’ve grouped all plant milks and highlighted a cumulative stat (“gallons water saved 🌊”). We take this approach for other categories, too. And if some plant-based alternatives are actually less environmentally friendly, we’ll point that out. We want to be as objective and thorough as possible—without losing the forest for the trees.

🌱 milks include pea, hemp, almond, soy, cashew, and others
🌱 protein powders include pea, hemp, goji, rice, soy, and others

A few more notes…
☝️ While plant-based options are better in many ways, we can’t assume they’re better in every way. We must be informed shoppers, eaters, and advocates.

Take plant milk, for instance. It’s better for the planet than dairy milk—but doesn’t always provide the same nutritional benefits. Nut milks, for example, often have very little protein. (Thankfully, there are plenty of other plant protein sources!) But then there’s pea milk, which contains as much protein as dairy milk and more calcium! Again, we shouldn’t lose the forest for the trees but we should be thoughtful in our plant-based eating efforts.

🐮 The animal agriculture industry operates the way it does to provide the quantity of meat we demand at the prices we expect. But we can change things by simply eating fewer animals and more plants! (Worried about protein? Check this out…)

…and a disclaimer:
Wellwith has no affiliation with RoosRoast — but we dig their sustainability efforts and would love to team up to make plant-based eating easier 😄
